About Us

Chikankari as an embroidery form evokes a lifestyle and culture of elegance, class, and artistic finesse. One that belonged to the erstwhile Mughal state of Awadh.

Yet, while empires fell, the art-form remained, and it is a great privilege and honour to play a part in sustaining this heritage.

Trained as a textile designer from the National Institute of Design in Ahmedabad, Mita walked through the streets of old Lucknow - flanked with crude Chikankari on both sides - looking for inspiration.

She dedicated herself to learn the intricacies and built invaluable relationships based on respect both for the karigars and the craft.

In 1995 she decided to start giving it her own take - moving away from the classical white on white to blend her eye for colour and textiles while still retaining fine high-quality embroidery techniques.

There is heart and soul in each piece. It is thoughtfully designed and hand-made with care.

Today, we continue to innovate with Chikankari, ensuring that this embroidery is not only a master craft one associates with history, but a design form that charts a course in the present.
